I listened on Sunday, before I got the emails telling me the podcast was out. I’ve been waiting, pals, and you didn’t disappoint. Engaging, smart, wide-ranging. Thank you. The only thing I wonder about–and the wondering was triggered by offhand comments each of you made, but I’ve wondered about this stuff before–what’s the deal with people thinking writing poetry is “disreputable” or even embarrassing? Why do people always say that? Never in my 35 years of writing poems have I felt embarrassed that I do so–only lucky in the reflection, and ecstatic in the making. Am I wrong to not be embarrassed to participate–feeble though my participation is–in an art that has for much of recorded history been one of the arts (sometimes THE art) most nearly central to human thinking? Anyway, I love the podcast; I can’t wait for more.

Very glad to hear you’re enjoying the show so far. This question goes to something we’ll discuss in a future episode, so stay tuned…
